In the ongoing movement at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), students have blocked Vice Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed at their home.
The agitating students took position in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence from 4:15 pm on Monday (January 17). The students did not move from their position till 10:30 pm when the report was written. They are sitting there and chanting slogans.
Strict security measures have been taken in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence. More than 50 police have been deployed.
On Monday afternoon, the police members were trapped in the campus after the police members want to remove the ongoing movement from the ongoing movement of students. Since then, more than a hundred policemen have been stationed in front of the main gate of the university.

Meanwhile, the police have closed all the shops and food hotels near the main gate of the university. Even the lights of all the shops were turned off. On the other hand, the students blocked all the exits of the university including the main gate.
Until the last news (10:30 pm), the students are standing in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence, chanting various slogans demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor.
One of the agitating students said, “We have only one demand and that is the vice-chancellor’s resignation. We don’t want a VC in our university who can attack us. Until the vice chancellor resigns, we will continue our movement.”
Proctor Alamgir Kabir did not agree to comment about this ongoing movement & demand.
