If the coronavirus infection increases, the government will decide to close educational institutions, said the Minister of Education Dr Dipu Moni. However, she said she has no plans to make a decision right now.
Dipu Moni told reporters after the first session of the DC conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (January 18).
The education minister said, “DCs have been instructed to prepare for the virtual classes to be taken after the closure of educational institutions. Where it is not possible to take virtual classes, you have to rely on assignments.”
Dipu Moni said the Deputy Commissioners have proposed to keep technical education in all institutions. It will be done. He also said that it has been proposed to keep DCs in the recruitment process committee in high schools and colleges at the Upazila level. He directed the DCs to be vigilant to ensure the transparency and accountability of the managing committee of the educational institution.
The education minister further said that so far 85 lakh students between the ages of 12 and 18 have been vaccinated. The decision to vaccinate younger people has not yet been made.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the three-day annual conference of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) via video conference from Ganobhaban. Addressing the DCs at the time, she said, “The responsibility has increased as the country has joined the ranks of developing countries. DCs need to ensure that ordinary people are not harassed to get government services.”
