Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni sat down with the teachers’ delegation of Sylhet Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) to resolve the ongoing crisis.
Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education MA Khair confirmed that the meeting started at the residence of the Education Minister on Saturday (January 22) at 6.30 pm.
The meeting was attended by five teachers led by Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Teachers Association President Dr. Tulsi Saha.
Meanwhile, students are continuing their hunger strike on the university campus demanding the resignation of SUST VC Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed.

The student movement started on 13 January. On that night, hundreds of students of Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Hall started agitation demanding three points including her resignation alleging misconduct against the Provost of Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Hall. On the evening of 15 January, the Bangladesh Chhatra League attacked the student movement.
The next afternoon, the students blocked the VC in the ICT building of the university. Police then beat the students with sticks and fired shotgun shots and sound grenades at them. That night the university was closed indefinitely and the students were ordered to leave the hall. The students ignored it and started a movement demanding the resignation of the VC. Students and various civic and political organizations are protesting in different places including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jahangirnagar, Khulna and Barisal University in protest of the attack.
