At present, there are 19,199 Qawmi madrasas in the country, said the Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni. The minister made the remarks in response to a question from ruling party MP AKM Rahmat Ullah.

Noting the need to run Qawmi madrasas through a board, the minister said there is a need to implement up-to-date education system for religious educational institutions including Qawmi madrasas and bring them under government registration. To this end, the government is reviewing the formulation of a comprehensive policy and the formation of a committee comprising of six separate boards of Qawmi Madrasas.
Responding to a question from Jatiya Party’s Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed said the Department of Social Services has conducted a disability identification survey program to determine the exact number of people with disabilities. A database called Disability Information Center (DIS) is being used to insert information on persons with disabilities into the database. The data of 24 lakh 59 thousand 748 persons with disabilities has been entered in this database till 18 January 2022.
