Determining the fate of Zayed Khan and Nipun Akhter again as Who will be the general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artists Association? The hearing will be held on Monday (February 28) at 2 pm. The court set a new date on Thursday (February 24).
Zayed Khan and Nipun Akter’s fight is raging in FDC, court premises. The High Court’s rule hearing in the case was scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed to Wednesday. The hearing was adjourned on Wednesday (February 23). The new date is given on Thursday (February 24).
The writ petition was not heard even though it was on the agenda on Thursday. The court has fixed a new date for Monday (February 28). The High Court bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman fixed the date.
In the election held on 28 January, Zayed Khan was elected with 176 votes. Nipun Akter got 163 votes. After that, Nipun brought multiple allegations including buying votes with money. Later, Nipun applied to the Appellate Board of the Artists’ Association seeking cancellation of Zaid’s candidature. Chairman of the Board of Appeal Sohanur Rahman Sohan appealed to the Ministry of Social Welfare to know what to do.
In a letter sent by the Ministry of Social Welfare on February 2, the Appellate Board was directed to take a decision in this regard. On February 5, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, chairman of the Board of Appeals, rejected the candidacy of the winning candidate Zayed Khan for buying votes for money. At the same time, the general secretary declared Nipun uncontested.
Zayed Khan approached the High Court against the decision of the Chairman of the Board of Appeal. On February 7, the High Court stayed the decision of the Appellate Board. Nipun appealed to the Appellate Division Chamber Court against this. Following the hearing on February 9, the chamber court suspended the order of the High Court and issued a stay on the post of general secretary of the artists’ association.
