RAB-11 has arrested five people in Comilla on charges of giving fake degrees and giving them medical treatment. They were arrested on Friday (January 28) from Amit Medical Hall and Hridoy Pharmacy in Kalir Bazar in Telikona of Adarsh Sadar Upazila.
RAB-11, CPC-2, Comilla Company Commander Major Mohammad Shakib Hossain said this in a press release on Saturday (January 29).
The arrested are Ajit Kumar Debnath (63) of Digambari Tala village of Kotwali police station, Jasim Uddin Ahmed (42) of Sujanagar village, Aminul Hasan Tarek (25) of Chawkbazar village, AKM Mozammel Haque (43) of Kaptan Bazar village, and Debashis Das of East Bagichagaon village (41).
Major Mohammad Shakib Hossain said that common people are being deceived through wrong treatment and are suffering from various chronic diseases. Patients risk their lives for the services of these fake doctors more than once before they realize anything. They have been arrested after various searches.
Preliminary inquiries and preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused revealed that they had for a long time admitted to treating themselves as senior doctors with degrees, even though they were not registered doctors with BMDC approval or academic credentials. Kotwali police station is in the process of taking legal action against them.
