Newly appointed Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique today issued a warning against corruption and irregularities.
“Corruption is a cancer. I will not compromise in taking action against any corruption and irregularities,” he said at a felicitation accorded by the Attorney General’s office and the Supreme Court Bar Association, at the chief justice’s courtroom in the Supreme Court.
“Action will be taken immediately against anyone who is found involved in corruption, even if they are officers, employees of my division,” he announced.
He also assured that he will work toward reducing the backlog of cases, eradicating corruption from the judiciary system and aligning the bar and the bench.
The chief justice said separate committees will monitor the activities of judges and officials in the judiciary across the country.
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and SCBA Secretary Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal delivered separate speeches welcoming the new chief justice.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique was appointed the 23rd chief justice of Bangladesh on December 30.
