In the fifth phase of UP elections, a boat agent was seen entering a booth with a ballot paper from a voter’s hand at a center in Ashulia, Savar, and was seen sealing the boat. On Wednesday (January 5) at around 10 am, such a scene was seen at the Nur Vidya Niketan polling station in Jabale, Ward No. 1 of Ashulia Union.
Independent candidate Jamir Ali, an agent for the pineapple symbol, said, “Voting has been going well since morning. But around 10 o’clock a man came and said, ‘The boat vote will be open’. Since then, the boat’s polling agent. Zia enters the booth with ballot papers from voters and seals himself. Later the police came and stopped him.”
Ashulia police sub-inspector in charge of the police (SI) Md. Iqbal said, “Such incidents did not happen. There was a slight commotion, which was brought under control.”
Abdul Malek, presiding officer of the center, said, “I have taken action after receiving the complaint. I stopped it immediately. You can go inside and see if you want.”
