Bangladesh has signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkey. As a result, the country will further cooperate with Bangladesh in suppressing terrorism. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told reporters after a meeting with Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Solu at the Secretariat on Saturday night.
“We have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU),” he said. Its main themes were Counter-Terrorism, Security Cooperation, and Drug Smuggling Prevention. The MoU has been signed with these. After signing it, they will further enhance their cooperation, the minister said. This was the main topic of today’s discussion.
The Home Minister said that they (Turkey) still have a strong role in Rohingya repatriation as they had before. The Minister has assured us. They have set up hospitals for Rohingyas, they are cooperating in various ways. We have said that Rohingyas are displaced Myanmar citizens, the Prime Minister has given them a place to stay. They thanked the Prime Minister for this and will do whatever is necessary in this regard.
He said that Turkey would send people to Bhasanchar, adding that they would send people to Bhasanchar tomorrow. They will cooperate by accessing what they can do there. Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal also said that Turkey is sincere in repatriating Rohingya.
