Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has distributed blankets among the Rohingya refugees affected by the fire at Ukhia Camp in Cox’s Bazar. In addition, the organization has set up tents for the affected families.
This information was given in a notification sent from Red Crescent on Tuesday (January 11).
MA Halim, the Society’s Head of Operations in Cox’s Bazar, distributed 2,000 blankets to 800 families affected by the fire on Monday with the help of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The agency said, 400 tents have been set up with the help of the Society’s volunteers to provide temporary shelter to the families affected by the fire.
On January 9, a terrible fire broke out in the camp. Earlier on January 2, a fire broke out at Corona Hospital run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (IOM) at Camp No. 20 in Balukhali, Ukhia. No one was injured, but several cabins of the hospital’s isolation center were set on fire.
