Health Minister Zahid Malek said the lockdown would not be necessary if the government’s 11-point directive to prevent corona infection was followed. Lockdown means loss of country.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the City Scan Machine and Dialysis Unit at the 250-bed General Hospital in Manikganj on Saturday (January 15).
The health minister said corona is spreading rapidly in Bangladesh as well as all over the world. Corona of 4,338 people has been identified in one day as yesterday. The detection rate in 24 hours is more than 14 percent. Infections are increasing at a rate of three percent per day.

He added that masks should be worn and social distance should be maintained. Everyone needs to be vaccinated. There is no shortage of vaccine. Already 14 crore doses have been vaccinated. About 7 million students have been vaccinated.
Additional Director General (Administration) of the Health Department Ahmedul Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abdul Latif, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Golam Azad Khan, and others were present on the occasion.
