Amar Ekushey Book Fair has been postponed for two weeks due to the recurrence of coronavirus infection. State Minister for Culture KM Khalid told The Asian Tribune on Sunday.
He said, “The book fair has been postponed for two weeks due to coronavirus infection. Bangla Academy is fully prepared for the book fair. If the infection situation was normal, the book fair could have been started from the 1st.”
The state minister said no decision has been taken yet on the date on which the book fair may start.
The government recently imposed 11-point restrictions on coronavirus infections. All kinds of social, religious, and political gatherings are banned in the open.
Meanwhile, the Bangla Academy was preparing to organize Amar Ekushey Book Fair from February 1, 2022, in compliance with the health rules. The work of making a fair stall was also going on.
Due to the epidemic, last year’s Ekushey Book Fair started a month and a half later on March 18 and ended on April 12, two days ahead of schedule.
