The ruling Awami League is going to take part in the dialogue on the formation of the Election Commission at the invitation of the President. The dialogue will be held on Monday (January 17) at 4 pm at Bangabhaban.
A 10-member delegation led by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will take part in the dialogue.
President Mohammad Abdul Hamid started the dialogue on December 20 to discuss the formation of the Election Commission. On that day, the opposition Jatiya Party (JAP) took part in the dialogue. After that, several parties took part in the dialogue. However, BNP, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, CPB, JSD and six other political parties have decided not to enter into dialogue.
The dialogue between the President and the political parties is likely to end with the formation of the EC through dialogue with the Awami League.
The term of the current Election Commission headed by KM Nurul Huda is coming to an end on February 14. The process of forming a new EC will be completed before this.
