Police have arrested a truck driver named Touhidur Rahman (34) while selling rods on the Bangabandhu Bridge Paschimpar Link Highway in Sirajganj.
He was arrested on Friday (January 21) from the Dhopakandi area of the highway. The arrested truck driver Touhidur is the son of late Hafiz Uddin of Muradpur village in Biral Upazila of Dinajpur.
Hatikumrul Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Lutfar Rahman confirmed the matter to The Asian Tribune. He said a truck loaded with rods from Chittagong was standing on the highway in the Dhopakandi area on Friday afternoon on its way to Gaibandha and was selling five bundles of rods from the truck to a local youth named Alamin.
The OC further said that if the patrol police suspected the matter, the driver along with the truck was detained. At that time a man named Alamin escaped. However, the truck loaded with rods was seized and brought to the police station. The value of the rod is approximately 20 thousand taka. The people on the side of the owner of this rod will take legal action in the police station.
