Twelve restaurants in Chittagong city have been fined Tk 44,200 for disobeying government-imposed restrictions on coronavirus infection and serving food in restaurants without seeing customers’ vaccination certificates.
The mobile court was organized on Saturday (January 22) at the initiative of Chittagong City Corporation. Chittagong City Corporation Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Neli led the operation.
A press release issued by the Chittagong City Corporation said that the banadi restaurant, Silver Spoon, The Copper Chimney, Kachchi Dine and St. Martin Hotel in Agrabad have been fined Rs 5,000 each. Besides, Orient Restaurant has been fined Rs 5,000, Kutum Bari Restaurant at Wasa Junction Rs 5,000, Grand Mughal Rs 5,000, Handi in Dampara Rs 5,000 and Dhaba Rs 3,000. Besides, 3 restaurants have been fined Tk 1,200.
Chittagong City Corporation Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Neli said, “the operation has carried out dew to increase corona infection. A fine of Tk 44,200 has been imposed in 12 cases.”
During this time, restaurant owners have been instructed to ensure that customers wear the vaccine certificate and mask. The public is also made aware of the need to adhere to hygiene rules.
Officers and employees of the City Corporation and the Metropolitan Police assisted in the operation.
