Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor MD. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said, after completing all the preparations, it has been decided to start the book fair in Chittagong from February 18. However, considering the situation this time, in the light of the decision of the government regarding health rules, overall measures will be taken to organize the book fair.
He made the remarks while addressing an exchange of views on the occasion of ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2022’ at the conference room of the temporary Nagar Bhaban in CCC on Thursday (January 27) afternoon.
The mayor said, “The book fair is a gathering of writers and readers on the occasion of the book fair. There is interest among book lovers in book fairs. Despite preparations last year, dew to corona we could not start the Amar Ekushey book fair.”
Rezaul Karim said that those who do not believe in the spirit of the liberation war their books should not get a place in the fair. City Corporation has made preparations so that buyers and readers can come to the book fair by strictly following the hygiene rules.
Last year, 138 publishing houses participated in the book fair. The mayor expressed hope that they would take part in the book fair again.
