Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni’s family and relatives have been accused of embezzling Tk 350 crore in the acquisition of land from Chandpur University of Science and Technology.
Bangladesh Muktiyuddha Mancha has demanded the resignation of the Education Minister along with the judicial investigation into the allegations. The leaders of the Mancha made these demands at a protest rally organized next to the ‘Raju Vaskorjo’ at Dhaka University on Sunday afternoon.
Freedom fighter Ruhul Amin Majumder, freedom fighter Zahir Uddin Jalal, sculptor Rasha, Manet Dhaka University branch president Sonet Mahmud and general secretary Md Touhidul Islam Mahim spoke on the occasion.
Speakers at the rally said, “Bangladesh Muktijuddha Mancha is strongly condemning and protesting against the recent corruption in the land acquisition of Chandpur University of Science and Technology. A report sent to the land ministry by Anjana Khan Majlish revealed this horrific allegation of corruption. The financial loss of the government stands at 359 crore 16 lakh 61 thousand 782 Tk. A high-powered judicial inquiry commission should be formed to quickly identify the culprits and bring them to justice.”
They demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice immediately and that exemplary punishment be ensured.
