Teknaf police station’s former OC Pradeep Kumar Das and former SI Liakat Ali, who are death-row convicts in Major (retd) Sinha murder case, have been brought at Chattogram Central Jail from Cox’s Bazar District Jail.
They reached Chattogram Central Jail at about 1:25pm on Saturday (Feb 5).
Chattogram Central Jail’s jailer Dewan Mohammad Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter.
Pradeep Kumar Das and Liakat Ali have been kept at the Cell No. 32 of the jail, he said.
On January 31 last year, Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail sentenced Liakat Ali and Pradeep Kumar Das to death, six others to life term imprisonment, and acquitted seven others in the verdict.
On the night of July 31, 2020, Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead by policemen at a checkpoint on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive.
Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed a case with a Cox’s Bazar court against nine policemen on August 5, the same year.
After investigation, RAB ASP Md Khairul Islam, also Investigation officer of case, submitted a charge-sheet accusing 15 people.
