A Dhaka court has sent Sharif Shahriar Siraj, the lawyer of a convicted criminal who arranged for a cousin to serve the life sentence awarded to him in a murder case, to jail in a forgery case filed with Kotwali Police Station after remand ended.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arfatul Rakib passed the order on Sunday (February 06), after Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Sub-Insepctor (Civil) Abu Sayeed Chowdhury produced him before the court and sought to keep him confined in jail.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahmudur Rahman, general registration branch for Kotwali Police Station in the court, confirmed the matter.

Earlier on February 4, the court placed him on an one-day remand.
He was arrested from Roy Saheb Bazar area of Old Dhaka in the capital on February 3.
The court placed Md Hossain, the cousin who assumed convict Boro Sohag’s identity and surrendered himself to serve the life sentence handed down to Sohag in absentia, on a five-day remand in the case.
