The Search Committee formed for formation of the Election Commission (EC) will sit with 60 eminent citizens. The meeting will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam made the disclosure after the second meeting of the committee held at the Supreme Court Lounge in the capital on Tuesday (February 08).
He said, “Political parties have sent some 30 names to the committee so far. The next meeting of the Search Committee will he held on next Thursday.”
Earlier, the second meeting of the committee presided by Justice Obaidul Hassan, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, around 4:30 pm on Tuesday.
Earlier, President M Abdul Hamid formed a six-member search committee headed by Justice Obaidul Hassan, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court to form an Election Commission (EC).
The Cabinet Division had issued a gazette notification regarding the matter February 5.
Other members of the search committee are High Court Division Judge S M Quddus Zaman, Honorable Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Chairman of Public Service Commission Md Sohorab Hossain, former Election Commissioner Mohammed Sohul Hossain and Professor of Bangla literature Anwara Syed Haq.
