Ashok Kumar Debnath, additional secretary to the Election Commission (EC), said, at least 100 people were killed centering the violence at Union Parishad (UP).
The secretary revealed the information while addressing a press conference at Nirbachan Bhaban’s media center in the capital on Thursday evening (February 10).

He said, a total of 4,136 Union Parishad elections took place in the UP polls in eight phases across the country.
Ashok Kumar also said that the election in seven union parishads of eight phase elections took place peacefully. The vote counting is underway now after the election. A total of 371 were elected uncontested in the polls.
EC joint secretary SM Asaduzzaman and joint secretary Farhad Ahmed Khan attended the program.
