Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said, “There may have been some mistakes in my tenure as Election Commissioner in the last five years. But I and my commission have tried our best.”
He made the remarks at a farewell press conference on Monday (February 14) at 11:30 am at the Lakeview premises of the Election Commission Secretariat in the capital’s Agargaon.
The Chief Election Commissioner said, “We have undertaken various activities during our time. In some cases, we did not succeed. Because of Corona we have lagged behind for the last two years. Even then we had to try.”
He said, “We have held about 6,690 elections in these five years, including the National Assembly elections. There are some reasons left.”
Discussed Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder did not attend the farewell press conference. Besides, Election Commissioner Shahadat Hossain could not attend because of covid positive.
