Newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and four other Election Commissioners (EC) have taken oaths.
Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique administered the oath taking ceremony at the Supreme Court Judges Lounge on Sunday (February 27) afternoon.
Earlier on Saturday (February 26), the Cabinet Division published a gazette notification appointing Kazi Habibul Awal, former secretary to the Ministry of Defence, as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
According to the gazette notification, other Election Commissioners (EC) were known as District and Sessions Judge (Rtd) Begum Rashida Sultana, Brig. Gen. (Rtd) Ahsan Habib Khan, former senior secretary Md Alamgir and Anisur Rahman.
The President appointed them for a five-year tenure.
Earlier, the Search Committee submitted a final list of 10 names to the President to form the Election Commission (EC).
