A man named Shahbaz Ali (50) was killed in a clash between two groups of drug dealers in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi. The incident took place at 7:30 pm on Tuesday (March 15) at Tantarpur village in Shalua union of the upazila. Shahbaz Ali is the son of Abdul Jabbar of Tantarpur village.
According to locals, a group of drug dealers named Sahabur Ali and Kalam Ali, members of Tantarpur village, had been at loggerheads for several days. In this context, they have been involved in several clashes since Tuesday morning. Since evening, Sahabaj Ali and some other supporters of Sahabur were staying at the corner of Tantarpur Akkas.
At that time, a group of about 20 people wearing helmets on motorcycles attacked with sharp weapons. Although some of them escaped, Shahbaz Ali was publicly angered. He was rescued and taken to a local doctor, who pronounced him dead.
Charghat Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Alam said one person was killed in a clash between the two groups. No arrests have been made so far. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
