A newborn baby was rescued from a corn field in the Jalalabad area of Zafarabad Union on the Kishoreganj-Karimganj road on Wednesday night (March 16).
The wife of Karimganj police officer Anwar Hossain took the girl in her arms with utmost compassion. The child is being cared for there. The girl will be adopted with the permission of the court, said Deputy District Executive Officer (UNO) Taslima Noor Hossain.
It is learned that at around 8 pm, some passers-by heard the sound of crying in the corn field on the side of the road. Hearing the sound of crying, they proceeded. The newborn baby, wrapped in cloth, was rescued and nursed by a woman from Sadherjungle village. Karimganj police rescued her on Thursday morning after receiving information from the chairman of the local union council.
Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem, chairman of Zafarabad Union, said the child was rescued and kept by a woman after receiving information from a local constable on the same night. The child was taken into police custody on Thursday morning after police and UNO were notified.
