A trader has been fined Tk 30,000 for illegally stockpiling 20,000 liters of soybean oil at Niamatpur in Naogaon. On Saturday (March 19) evening, the Upazila administration and the NSI conducted a joint operation at the Chatal warehouse near the market adjacent to the Niamatpur Upazila Parishad and imposed the fine in a mobile court.
It is learned that Humayun Kabir is a big businessman in the market adjacent to Upazila Parishad and general secretary of Upazila Business Association.
Confirming the matter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Mamun said that the raid was carried out at Humayun Kabir’s (38) Mrs Habiba store in Chatal’s warehouse near the market adjacent to the Upazila Parishad based on secret information from the District National Security Intelligence (NSI). He was fined Tk 30,000 for illegally storing 20,000 liters of soybean oil in 100 drums.
He further said that at this time the stored oil was directed to be sold at government market price within the next 5 days. Apart from this, Humayun Kabir was initially warned for conducting illegal business and warehousing without a license. Besides, it has been directed to submit the business license to the office of the Deputy Commissioner within the next 5 working days.
He also said that this campaign will continue in the public interest. Members of the Upazila administration, NSI, and police were present in the operation.
