One day after the disappearance, the naval police rescued the body of Professor Monowara Sultana, former head of the accounting department of Patuakhali Government College, from the river.
Her body was recovered from the Payrakunj Kalichanna ferry (river) on Monday (March 21) morning.
They later handed over the body to Sadar police. Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.
Naval Police SI Mamun said the body of Professor Monowara Sultana was recovered from Payrakunj Kalichanna ferry terminal at 9.30 am on Monday after receiving information from fishermen. Later it was handed over to Sadar police.
Sadar police SI Masud Rana said the body has been autopsied. No injuries were reported. It is thought she may have died 24 hours ago. Subsequent necessary action will be taken subject to receipt of the autopsy report.
Note that Professor Monowara Sultana has been missing since the afternoon of March 19. She had been in a bit of a mental breakdown since the young boy died last year.
