The meteorological department has forecast rain in three divisions of the country in the next 24 hours. Meteorologist Mohammad Abdul Hamid Mia told the media on Wednesday (March 23).
He said, “In the next 24 hours from 9 am on Wednesday, there may be temporary gusts of wind or rain with thunderstorms in Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will be temporarily dry with partly cloudy skies.”
Abdul Hamid Mia said that mild heat wave is sweeping over Sylhet division including Rangamati and Rajshahi districts and it may continue.
Regarding the depression in the Bay of Bengal, Abdul Hamid Mia said, “The deep depression in the southeastern Bay of Bengal and the adjoining North Andaman Sea region extends northeast and crosses the coast of Myanmar (near Pathein). It then moved further north and northeast and weakened in the form of low pressure at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday (March 23) in coastal Myanmar and adjoining areas. It may move further north and northeast and become progressively weaker. Most of the western light pressure is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, West Bengal and adjoining areas.”
On Wednesday morning, the lowest temperature in the country was 19.5 degrees Celsius in Srimangal. The highest temperature in the country on Tuesday was in Sylhet at 36.9 degrees Celsius.
