The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) has arrested a drug trafficker named Md Russell while smuggling yaba in a packet of chocolates. At that time, 6,200 pieces of yaba were seized from him.
Subrata Sarkar, assistant director of DNC Dhaka Metro (South) office, told Asian Tribune on Thursday night (March 24).
He said Russell was arrested during a raid on a packet of chocolates in a raid in the Merul Badda area of the capital on Thursday. His home is in South Kalatali, Cox’s Bazar.
Russell, who was arrested during preliminary interrogation said, he was bringing the seized yaba from Cox’s Bazar to deliver to drug dealers in the Merul Badda area. The operation is also underway to arrest other members of the gang, said Subrata Sarkar Shuvo.
He further said that the operation was carried out under the overall direction of Md Jafrullah Kajal, Additional Director, Dhaka Divisional Office, Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), and Md Masud Hossain, Deputy Director, Dhaka Metro (South) Office, under the leadership of Md Sumonur Rahman, Inspector, Motijheel Circle.
