Two people were trying to run counterfeit money in the shop. But a local man next to the shop realizes the money is counterfeit. He later informed the police while talking to them. Later the police came there and saw the money and identified the counterfeit. At that time 19 thousand counterfeit money was seized and the two persons were detained.
The incident took place at Khetlal Upazila Bazar in Joypurhat around 6 pm on Friday (March 25). Officer-in-charge (OC) of Khetlal Police Station Raushan Yazdani confirmed the matter.
The detainees were identified as Shah Alam, 38, son of Jalil Uddin of Kutihar village in Nawabganj Upazila of Dinajpur, and Mosharraf Hossain, 38, son of late Nizam Uddin of Panatipara in Chilmari Upazila of Kurigram.
The OC said the two men were trying to smuggle 19 counterfeit notes of 1,000 Tk into a shop in Khetlal Bazar in the afternoon. At this time a local person next to the shop realizes that the money is fake. After informing the police, they reached the spot, identified the counterfeit money, and arrested them
