A Bangladeshi youth named Nurul Huda Ashrafi Sabuj (35) was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Patgram Upazila of Lalmonirhat. The incident took place at around 5 am on Saturday (March 26) at the Nazirgumani border in Upazila.
Nurul Huda Ashrafi is the son of Syed Ali of Mominpur Ward No. 2 of Jongra Union of Sabuj Upazila.
According to locals and BGB sources, a group of 10/12 people went to India to bring cows to a place called Kokar Bari, 100 yards inside Main Pillar No. 868 Sub Pillar No. 5 of Nazirgumani border of Patgram Upazila. They were shot at by a patrol team from the Chenakata camp of India’s 169 BSF battalion. Nurul Huda Ashrafi Sabuj was shot in the waist. He was later rescued by his family and rushed to a private hospital in the Rangpur Dhap area.
Azizul Haque Manik, a member of Ward No. 2 of Jongra Union Parishad, said, His companions first took him to Patgram Upazila Health Complex and later to Rangpur. Gave blood, he is little healthy now.

Chairman of Jagatbar Union Parishad Mostafizur Rahman Sohel said the incident took place at the Nazirgumani border of Jagatbar Union. The house of the shot youth is in the nearby Jongra Union. Earlier on March 16, a young man named Rezaul Islam (34) of East Jagatbe Union was shot dead by BSF.
Confirming the incident, Rangpur 61 BGB Director Lieutenant Colonel Shahriar said, “I have written a letter to the Indian Border Security Force protesting the incident.”
