Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed has been admitted to United Hospital in Dhaka with a heart attack. He was brought to United Hospital from Rangpur around 4 pm on Sunday (May 8).
Assistant Private Secretary to the Minister for Social Welfare (APS) Mizanur Rahman Mizan confirmed the matter.
Earlier, the Social Welfare Minister was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the Cardiology Department of Rangpur Medical College Hospital around 2.30 pm on Saturday (May 7). From there, he was taken to the helipad of Rangpur Cantonment by ambulance around 1:15 pm on Sunday. From there, the Social Welfare Minister was taken to Dhaka by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter at around 2 pm. Rakibuzzaman Ahmed, son of the social welfare minister and organizing secretary of Lalmonirhat district Awami League, confirmed the information.
Rakibuzzaman said the social welfare minister felt severe pain in his chest while staying at his village home in Kaliganj in Lalmonirhat on Saturday night. He was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital by ambulance at 2.30 pm. There he was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the Cardiology Department.
He further said that at present the physical condition of the minister is stable, adding that since he arrived in Dhaka, he (the minister) has been busy with various activities including Eid celebrations. Didn’t get proper rest for a few days. He also attended an Eid Adda function in the Mahishkhocha area of Aditmari Upazila on Saturday night. On the way back home after the ceremony, he (Minister) felt severe pain in his chest. He was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital by ambulance at around 2.30 pm. He was taken to Dhaka on the advice of a doctor.
The Social Welfare Minister was kept under observation under the supervision of Dr. Shakil Gafur, Head Professor, Department of Cardiology, Rangpur Medical College Hospital. In this regard, Professor Shakil Gafur said, the physical condition of the Minister is now stable. He felt chest pain. He did not have any major problems till he was discharged from the hospital (noon).
Rangpur Medical College Principal Prof Dr. Bimal Roy said the minister had been suffering from heart problems for a long time. He also had high levels of diabetes. When he was brought to the hospital, the specialist doctors started treatment immediately. The minister’s physical condition is currently stable. He was taken to Dhaka by family decision.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Social Welfare Mohammad Zakir Hossain said that the minister went to his home in Lalmonirhat from Dhaka on April 29 to celebrate Eid. During this time he took part in various programs. Were on different programs, older people, maybe it was in the heat.
