Hundreds of vehicles with passengers and goods are moving very slowly on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu bridge highway due to long tailbacks from Monday night (June 7), causing immense and untold sufferings to the passengers.
The highway is witnessing a 20-kilometer traffic jam from Bangabandhu Bridge East side to Rabna area of Tangail sadar upazila.
The situation has created due to heavy rain at night and a road accident.
During a visit to the highway on Tuesday morning, it was seen that the highway has come to a halt. Sometimes, vehicles were seen moving at a snail’s speed.
Bus driver Khaleq Mia said, “There is a huge pressure of vehicles. We are moving slowly. I passed just one kilometer in two hours.”
When contacted, Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge East Thana Shafiqul Islam said, “We removed the vehicles that fell into the accident. Police men are working and we hope the traffic jam will be removed very soon”
