The event, organized by the Centre for Zakat Management (CZM), aimed to showcase the impact of zakat in making a difference in poverty alleviation.

The inaugural function, chaired by Prof. Md Shahjahan Mia, featured insights from various distinguished speakers, including former chief election commissioner Justice Abdur Rouf, former executive director of Bangladesh Bank Abdul Awal Sarker, and Islamic scholar Prof. Mokhter Ahmed. The event highlighted the significance of zakat in preventing wealth accumulation among a few individuals, as envisioned in Islam.

Leading business houses, such as Rahimafrooz, Khadim Ceramics, and Rahim Steel, sponsored the Zakat Fair to promote awareness about zakat calculation methods and Islamic finance. The fair, open to all from 9 am to 7 pm, featured stalls from financial institutions, zakat consultation desks, and Islamic book displays. Chief executive officer of CZM, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Mia, shared the organization's impact in supporting vulnerable communities over the years.

Future Sessions and Discussions


The Zakat Fair will host six sessions, including a seminar on the 'Importance of Zakat, Ushar, and Waqf in Human Welfare' and a roundtable on the 'Role of Islamic Social Finance in Reducing Inequality.' Eminent personalities like Prof. Wahiduddin Mahmud and former chief election commissioner Justice Muhammad Abdur Rauf are expected to participate in these engaging discussions. Through collaborative efforts and insightful conversations, the Zakat Fair aims to foster meaningful change and empower communities through zakat contributions.
