Famous Australian coach Jamie Siddons has set foot in Dhaka to work in Bangladesh cricket for the second term. A Qatar Airways flight carrying Siddons landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 4.45 pm today (Wednesday).
Readers of The Asian Tribune learned about a couple of months ago that former Tigers head coach Jamie Siddons will be coming to Dhaka in February.
But in what capacity will this Australian work again, what will be his title – batting coach or batting advisor? Where will he actually work? Only for the national team or with HP and ‘A’ team or ‘Bangla Tigers’? The answers to these questions are still unknown.
It can be said that Siddons has set foot in Bangladesh with unknown responsibilities. Maybe the BCB will explain what to do after discussing with him. The BCB and the Cricket Operations Committee have not yet clarified the matter.
It may be mentioned that Jamie Siddons was appointed as the Head of Bangladesh on 28 October 2007. He was the head coach of the Tigers until the 2011 ODI World Cup. Then the Australian broke up with Team Bangladesh.
After 11 years, he is going to tie the knot with Bangladesh again. It is expected that he will be the next batting coach of Team Bangladesh. Under the circumstances, Siddons will be seen as the Tigers’ batting advisor in the series against Afghanistan.
