State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam said that attempts are being made to take Bangladeshis stranded in Ukraine to Poland. The stranded Bangladeshis there will get ‘on-arrival’ visas.
The minister made the statement while addressing a press briefing at the foreign ministry on Thursday (February 24).
He said, the government is observing the Ukraine situation closely. There is no support from Dhaka for anyone. We are hopeful for a peaceful solution through negotiations.
The minister also said, Bangladesh embassy officials from Italy and Germany went to Poland. The government will bear the cost of two weeks stay of Bangladeshis in Poland.
No casualties of Bangladeshi have been reported in Ukraine so far. The government is trying to send chartered plane to send back them to the home from Poland, he added.
