Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded an end to the war in Ukraine. The British news agency Reuters reported in response to a statement from the Kremlin.
In a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday (February 28th), he said a settlement could be reached on Ukraine, but that Kiev must remain neutral, non-Nazi and civilian. And Russia’s control of the Crimean peninsula must be recognized.
Russia has kept open talks with Ukrainian representatives, the statement said. It is expected that the expected results will come from the talks.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered authorities to release prisoners with experience fighting to help in the war against Russia. He made the remarks in a video message on Monday (February 28th).
Zelenskyy said the decision was “morally difficult” but “very important” in terms of defense.
