At least nine people have been killed in a collision between a pickup van and a truck in Texas.
The accident happened on Wednesday (March 16) local time when a pickup truck collided head-on with a van carrying members of a university golf team.
The dead included six university students and a coach.
Members of a golf team at a university in New Mexico were returning home in a van after the tournament. Suddenly there was a head-on collision with a pickup truck in Andrews County, Texas. At that moment the van twisted. Several people died on the spot.
Six of the dead were students and coaches of the university. The driver of the van and a passenger of the truck were also killed.
Two more seriously injured students were airlifted to Lubbock Hospital. The tragic accident of students at The University of the Southwest in New Mexico, bordering Texas, has cast a shadow of mourning over friends and relatives.
The National Transportation Safety Board has already announced to send a 12-member investigation team to investigate the cause of the road accident. Authorities say there are also experts.
