Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been in regular talks with various commentators at various times. He has not stopped when the humanitarian catastrophe in his country is at its peak in the face of Russia’s military operation. Sometimes it is a compromise, sometimes it speaks of fear. This time Zelenskyy expressed such a fear.
In the coming days, Russia could take away the independence of many European countries, said the Ukrainian president. At the same time, seeking further cooperation from the Western military alliance, NATO, Zelenskyy said, “Even if Russia cooperates with at least one part of NATO’s military capabilities, it will be possible to resist Russia.” However, analysts believe that such remarks by Volodymyr Zelenskyy could exacerbate rather than resolve the ongoing crisis. Because such provocative remarks could easily provoke Russia.
Meanwhile, the intensity of the Russia-Ukraine war is constantly increasing. A bomb blast near the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv has killed at least six Russian civilians. Another 15 people were injured. A number of installations were also reduced to ashes in the shelling near the capital, Kiev. Ukraine, meanwhile, has demanded that Russia’s largest warship be shot down in the port of Bardiansk in a counter-attack. Kiev says Ukrainian forces have destroyed Russia’s largest warship, the Orsk. Kiev claimed that the ship had a capacity of 20 tanks, 45 armored vehicles and more than 400 troops. However, thousands of Ukrainians are expected to be trapped in the vicinity of the port after the attack.
Earlier, four days after the operation, Russian forces took control of the port of Bardiansk, west of the besieged Mariupol. Russia used the port as a base for transporting equipment.
In such a situation, US President Joe Biden once again added fuel to the fire of Russia-Ukraine war. While making it clear that it is not directly involved in the war with Russia, the United States is determined to extend a helping hand to Ukraine. Biden has pledged at least 1 billion in aid to the country. He made the announcement at a news conference ahead of an emergency meeting of the Western military alliance NATO in Brussels, Belgium, on Thursday (March 24th). Earlier, the United States said it would grant asylum to at least 100,000 Ukrainian refugees.
