Prof. Moseley Makes History
- DeWitt Wallace Professor of Geography Bill Moseley has been elected to lead the American Association of Geographers (AAG), becoming the first expert from a liberal arts college to hold this position.
- With more than 10,000 members, the AAG is the largest professional association of geographers in the world.
- Prof. Moseley's election highlights the strong reputation of Macalester's geography department and its impact on the field.
Brainpower in the Pool
- Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams at Macalester were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming Coaches of America Association.
- The women's team achieved a 3.69 team GPA, while the men's team posted a 3.54 team GPA, showcasing academic excellence alongside athletic achievements.
Alumni Nonprofit Earns Global Recognition
- Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative, founded by Macalester graduate Jim Cummings '86, received six Anthem Awards from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

No Longer Lost in Translation
- Dr. Rachael Huener, professor of German Studies, published the first English translation of Theodor Fontane's novel, Mathilde Möhring, offering English-speaking readers insights into German society in the late 19th century.
- The translation process involved collaboration with Macalester students, enriching both the learning experience and the final product.
Exhibiting Talent
- Macalester graduate Beth Bergman '73 showcased her artwork in a solo exhibition at the Form + Content Gallery in Minneapolis, marking a return to the art scene after years of operating an art supply store.
- Her exhibit, Seven Vignettes, featured over 24 paintings created in recent years, demonstrating artistic growth and creativity.

- Macalester graduates Dio Cramer '19 and Haze (Emma) Harrison '21 published Even the River Starts Small, a collection of stories documenting the grassroots resistance against the Line 3 tar sands oil pipeline in northern Minnesota.

An Ultra-Champion
- Dr. Alan Chapman, associate professor of geology, conquered the Arrowhead 135 ultramarathon, a challenging 135-mile race in northern Minnesota, showcasing endurance and determination.
