Walking into practice on the first day, Coach G Myers felt a surge of excitement. After years of battling for better numbers, the Fort Dodge girls soccer program is finally seeing a positive shift. With 22 girls at the initial team meeting and now 30 on the roster as the season kicks off, the team is gearing up for success.
"The girls have shown tremendous dedication from day one," Myers shared. "It's truly exciting to see their passion and commitment to the program. We are in a much better position than we have been in previous years, and there is a palpable sense of optimism among the team members."
Building on Past Success and Looking Towards the Future
After ending a long losing streak last season and securing a couple of victories, the Dodgers are eager to build on that positive momentum in 2024. Coach Myers is optimistic about the upcoming season, stating, "This year, we have a real shot at being competitive. Our returning players understand their potential, and we have new additions who are determined to make their mark."
The team's defense will be anchored by a group of strong upperclassmen, with senior Camden Doster leading the way as goalkeeper. Myers praised Doster's resilience and commitment, highlighting her positive attitude and reliability on the field.
- Seniors returning for the Dodgers include Silvia Heldorfer, Maddie Lee, Kira Kollbaum, and Natia Tsiteladze.
- Juniors Jase Madison, Paige Lloyd, Tessa Carlson, Tristen Holst, Paige Lewis, Kenia Suriano Zepeda, Ava Sells, along with sophomores Layla Ellis and Tyran Peterman bring experience and skill to the team.
Myers emphasized the importance of team cohesion and accountability among the players, noting that each player understands the expectations and works together towards a common goal.

With all scoring returning from last season, including standout players like Jase Madison and Abbi Hernandez, the Dodgers are poised for a strong offensive performance. Myers commended Hernandez's growth and confidence on the field, highlighting her transition from defense to offense.
Younger players like freshmen Addison Lentsch and Bella Lee are expected to contribute offensively, adding depth to the team's roster. The addition of players from Pocahontas Area under a sharing agreement has also brought new talent to the team.
