Marshalltown's track and field team recently celebrated its seniors in a heartwarming display of recognition and appreciation at the Kenny Dean Relays. The event, held at Leonard Cole Field, was not just about medals and races; it was a moment to honor the hard work, dedication, and resilience of the team's senior members.
The seniors, including standout athletes like Tre Brooks, Ryder Garrett, Ian Meyer, Salvador Ruiz, Oscar Ibarra Lemus, Gatleel Joar, Daniel Corona Yepez, James Johnson, Tate Riang, Diego Tejada, and Gabriel Lopez, were acknowledged for their contributions to the team. These athletes have exemplified true sportsmanship and commitment throughout their time with the Bobcats.

The Kenny Dean Relays saw some remarkable performances from Marshalltown's athletes, with LaMar Johnson clinching victory in the 3,200-meter run and Gatleel Joar dominating the 110 high hurdles event. Joar's impressive time of 16 seconds flat in the hurdles showcased his speed and agility, earning him a well-deserved victory.
Coach Gilbertson commended the team's distance runners, particularly Johnson, who displayed grit and determination throughout the race. Despite a slow start, Johnson pushed himself in the second half of the race, ultimately securing the win with a time of 10:05.55. The coach also highlighted the excellent performance of the 4x800 team, which finished second in a highly competitive field.
Other notable achievements included Tate Riang's second-place finish in the 100-meter dash and commendable performances by the shuttle hurdle quartet and sprint medley team. The Bobcats showcased their depth and versatility across different events, demonstrating their competitive spirit and resilience.
