Alcona Teachers Enhance STEM Education Through Art Collaboration

The Alcona teachers have truly outdone themselves this time! By coming together to merge art and STEM education, they have created a unique and engaging learning experience for their students. Through a partnership with the Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative (NEMIGLSI) and Michigan State University Extension, these teachers have embarked on a journey to enhance place-based education in northeast Michigan. Imagine a world where science and art collide, where students are encouraged to explore, observe, and create. This is the essence of the collaboration between Alcona art and STEM teachers. By intertwining art projects with scientific concepts, students are not only learning about the world around them but also expressing their creativity in new and exciting ways. In the case of this collaboration, students explored plants, pollinators, and the intricate relationship between them.
